Welcome back to the PSP podcast.

2

:

I am me Wallace Bruce, your host.

3

:

And guess what?

4

:

It's the final weekend of baseball.

5

:

A season that started in Tokyo with

the Dodgers is gonna finish in Toronto

6

:

with the Dodgers facing the Blue

Jays in game six of the Weld series.

7

:

The Toronto of Blue Jays

are currently three, two up.

8

:

After taking two out of the three games

played at Dodger Stadium, so there is a

9

:

sense of anticipation on the streets here

in Toronto and across Canada that the

10

:

Jays might break that 32 year drought.

11

:

But.

12

:

The team that is the reigning champion

stands in the way that the team that

13

:

has won it all, most recently, the

team that has the MVP, the Jewel threat

14

:

player that is shhe who can beat you

with the ball and with the bat, there

15

:

are so many things still standing in

the way of the Blue Jays and the Dodgers

16

:

will not go down without a fight.

17

:

That's the short, the, these two

teams have the most come from behind

18

:

wins in major league baseball.

19

:

So keep that in mind.

20

:

But before we get into game six

and potentially game seven, let's

21

:

take a look back at what happened

in games three, four, and five.

22

:

'cause there was a lot to get

into, especially Mondays game

23

:

three and 18 inning thriller of

prophy for Halloween, by the way.

24

:

So joining us once again, it is a friend

from around the diamond in Los Angeles.

25

:

He was on the ground at

Trave, Ravi, for the games.

26

:

It is Mellow Melo.

27

:

How you doing?

28

:

Melo: I'm doing okay.

29

:

The series is not over yet.

30

:

But the Dodgers did not look good

for, really all three of the games

31

:

if you really wanna nitpick it here.

32

:

But to answer your

question, I'm doing okay.

33

:

Season's not over yet, but it's

not looking good right now.

34

:

PSP: That's an interesting point you

raised because the first game of the

35

:

LA series, we will call it was won by

the Dodgers in a walk-off six five,

36

:

and I did get the sense that the Blue

Jays did have a chance to win it.

37

:

Firstly, within the nine innings, they

did make a few changes in game to.

38

:

Put in pinch runners, make the

set up a bit more defensive.

39

:

And that did remove some key bats there.

40

:

Addison, Baja Bobette, George Springer.

41

:

But the game was there for the

taking over the 18 innings.

42

:

And then you look at the next

two games following the blue Jays

43

:

definitely came out with some momentum.

44

:

It seems like they're very

locked in the Dodgers.

45

:

They haven't really been the Dodgers

that many have talked them up to be.

46

:

In terms of the offensive cohesion

after the top three or four in

47

:

the lineup, after you get past,

say, Herandez, Maxey, it does drop

48

:

away at the bottom of the lineup.

49

:

Whereas the Blue Jays, they have

the glue, Jays, the five through

50

:

nine, they're always contributing

at the back end of the lineup.

51

:

Has that been a difference for you across

the three games in the series Overall?

52

:

Melo: Absolutely.

53

:

Going just.

54

:

I know we'll touch on all

these games, Blake Snell he did

55

:

not pitch horrible yesterday.

56

:

He pitched better than he did in

game one, but it's not gonna mean

57

:

anything if this offense is not

58

:

PSP: It's not gonna be.

59

:

Melo: And, the thing that's been so

frustrating watching this dodger offense,

60

:

really all postseason, but they've been

able to get away with it because they've

61

:

had such dominant starting pitching.

62

:

It just seems like they're trying to hit

the ball outta the ballpark all the time

63

:

and that's the very feast or famine.

64

:

And that's the thing that has

been so frustrating to watch that,

65

:

they don't string hits together.

66

:

They don't take good at bats.

67

:

Like what the Blue Jays have

been doing, this whole postseason

68

:

and specifically this series.

69

:

They put the ball in play.

70

:

They worked the count, they

fell off a bunch of pitches.

71

:

It seems every time I look

up with this Dodger team.

72

:

PSP: Every time.

73

:

Melo: Automatically they're in a oh

two hole already and then, it's it's

74

:

hard to, it's hard to win games and

it's hard to get anything going when

75

:

you keep getting down oh two and

you're striking out all the time.

76

:

But yeah, it's, this whole lineup has

been bad, but specifically the top of

77

:

the order, outside of Sho Hail Tani,

Mookie Bets hasn't done anything.

78

:

This World Series.

79

:

I know Freddy had the big home

running game three, but outside of

80

:

that, he hasn't really done much.

81

:

Ska Hernandez hasn't had

a good series either.

82

:

Max Muncy and yeah it's to be

honest, it's a miracle that this

83

:

series is three two Blue Jays.

84

:

'cause if it wasn't for that.

85

:

inning.

86

:

Freddie Friedman Home Run.

87

:

This series is probably over right

now, which is crazy to think.

88

:

PSP: Yeah, that is a good point

that the Blue Jays almost let the

89

:

Dodgers off the hook in game three,

and one way that they were able to.

90

:

Neutralized Joha.

91

:

Tony was not letting him back.

92

:

They walked him a number of times

intentionally, and he got on

93

:

base record nine times in that

game, which is something that we

94

:

haven't seen and may not see Again.

95

:

It's, that was a truly historic night.

96

:

Did you have any inclination that he was

gonna be a long night the way it was?

97

:

Melo: I didn't think it

was gonna go 18 innings.

98

:

I'll be honest with you.

99

:

I thought I thought maybe.

100

:

11, if not 12 at the latest.

101

:

To go 18 innings like that, it was crazy.

102

:

And I know there was a

lot of people that were,

103

:

PSP: I know.

104

:

Melo: and up in arms about, Soheil,

Tani getting intentionally walked.

105

:

I think it was four times the fifth

time they actually pitched to him, but

106

:

they didn't throw him anything to hit.

107

:

If the guys in front of him are

behind him, are not gonna get on base.

108

:

I'm sorry.

109

:

That's the correct move.

110

:

I know it's not good for, TV purposes and,

I'm sure Fox and in America and sports

111

:

then in Canada was not happy about that.

112

:

But just seeing bluejays manager

just give up the four fingers.

113

:

Jo Hail Tawny to walk the first base.

114

:

But I did not think it

was gonna go eight 10

115

:

PSP: I did not.

116

:

Melo: I guess in hindsight, I'm glad

it did because like I said a second

117

:

ago, if Freddie Freeman doesn't

come through in that 18th inning,

118

:

who knows what happens after that.

119

:

And the Dodgers had to make some

big pitches and get some big

120

:

PSP: How to make,

121

:

Melo: And like I said, if it

wasn't for that, game three,

122

:

this season's over right now.

123

:

PSP: yeah the bullpen really

showed up the bullpen.

124

:

Was, yeah, every, it was really all hands

on deck for the Dodgers bullpen, and that

125

:

may have Hamed them for the future games.

126

:

So on, on that Monday night,

everyone stepped in, especially

127

:

Will Klein, he was literally the

last man standing in the bullpen.

128

:

But he came out and shoved with

four innings of of work for in

129

:

two thirds, if I'm not mistaken.

130

:

How did you see the game panning out?

131

:

Did you ever feel like the Dodgers were

gonna find a way, or did you think it was.

132

:

The J's gonna win eventually.

133

:

What was going through your

mind during those extra innings?

134

:

Melo: In the early stages,

135

:

11th, 12th, I'm like, the Dodgers

are gonna pull this thing off.

136

:

The Blue Jays have, as they took a lot of

their guys out, for pinch running purposes

137

:

or just to, change it up a little bit.

138

:

Essentially like the Blue Jays had

their B team out there, but it was so

139

:

frustrating as we were going through

140

:

PSP: So frustrating

141

:

Melo: the Dodgers could not cash in.

142

:

And specifically in the 13th inning,

they had runners at third with one out.

143

:

Alex

144

:

PSP: one out

145

:

Melo: could not on an

146

:

PSP: but not

147

:

Melo: oh

148

:

PSP: on an

149

:

Melo: the way, could

not get that runner in.

150

:

PSP: not get that.

151

:

Melo: a popup to Jimenez at

shortstop, and it was two out.

152

:

So then they walked JohE, Ani, and then

they, I don't think they pitched to,

153

:

Mookie either.

154

:

And

155

:

PSP: I don't think they pitched

156

:

Melo: hit like a line out

to center, and that was your

157

:

PSP: like the line out to center

158

:

Melo: after that.

159

:

I was

160

:

PSP: after that

161

:

Melo: are gonna win this game.

162

:

Like it felt like they

had all the momentum.

163

:

PSP: felt like

164

:

Melo: When we got to like the

15, 16th, I'm like, I don't know

165

:

PSP: 56

166

:

I

167

:

Melo: seemed like, at

least with the Dodger

168

:

PSP: it seemed like dodge.

169

:

Melo: very obvious that the only

170

:

PSP: It was very obvious.

171

:

Melo: that game Monday night, was

that if somebody was gonna hit a

172

:

home run, that's what it felt like.

173

:

It felt like a lot of

174

:

PSP: That's what

175

:

Melo: swing for the fences and they

weren't stringing anything along, what

176

:

they've been doing, this whole series.

177

:

But it felt very clear

that if the Dodgers were

178

:

PSP: it felt very clear.

179

:

Melo: gonna have to hit a home run.

180

:

And sure enough, that's what happened.

181

:

But, when we got to like the 16th inning,

I was like I don't even know anymore.

182

:

Because both teams have had

their opportunities and they

183

:

haven't been able to cash in.

184

:

PSP: Just remind me a little bit of

the Philadelphia Phillies or the New

185

:

York Yankees at times that they do

get caught out when the bats are a

186

:

little bit lukewarm or cold, that

they're not able to string those bases

187

:

together and get the carousel moving.

188

:

Now when it comes to Shohet, you

did, he did pitch the next day and.

189

:

Many thought that was gonna be

the game where they bounced back.

190

:

The Dodgers really stamped

their authority in the series.

191

:

That didn't happen.

192

:

It was the Blue Jays, in fact, that

bounced back after the short turnaround.

193

:

Do you feel like Tani was hampered by,

being on base so much and I think, I

194

:

feel like at one point he may have even

cramped up when moving between the bases.

195

:

Melo: sure it had something to do

with it, I know Shhe was probably

196

:

trying to downplay it in the media

after, but I'm sure having to be

197

:

on base nine times in game three

and the World Series game three.

198

:

In the 18th inning.

199

:

It didn't end until about

midnight Los Angeles Times.

200

:

You know that, that's a quick turnaround.

201

:

I don't know if this has been mentioned

on the TV or the broadcast or anything,

202

:

but it's been warm Los Angeles all three

203

:

PSP: Los Angeles,

204

:

Melo: this week.

205

:

Nothing says the fall classic

206

:

PSP: Small

207

:

Melo: first pitch being 85 plus degrees.

208

:

Nothing says the fall classic like that.

209

:

But, been warm these last couple

210

:

PSP: it

211

:

Melo: I'm not making excuses or anything,

212

:

PSP: you.

213

:

I'm not making an excuse.

214

:

Melo: Shhe having to be out

there on base nine times, the

215

:

game going almost seven hours.

216

:

I'm sure it had something to do with

it the next night, and you saw it too.

217

:

Like he was especially when

he got into those later

218

:

PSP: Especially

219

:

Melo: sixth inning, he was

sweating a little bit more.

220

:

Seems like he was

breathing a little heavier.

221

:

And the blue Jays finally got to him

in the seventh inning and they were

222

:

able to get him outta the game, which

eventually led to the Blue Jays taking

223

:

over in that seventh inning in game four.

224

:

PSP: they did take over the game and

another thing that I noticed was.

225

:

That Doc Roberts, Dave Roberts

had to really manage this game.

226

:

He's enjoyed the luxury of

having his starters go deep.

227

:

As you mentioned, they go to six, seven

innings, sometimes complete games in the

228

:

sense, in the case of yep, Nuva Moto.

229

:

But Tani comes out a

little bit earlier than.

230

:

Might have anticipated the bullpen is

engaged and Dave has to make decisions.

231

:

He has to string the rest

of the innings together.

232

:

I feel like when there's a little

bit of chaos like that, that we see

233

:

the old school, Dave Roberts come out

where maybe he's overthinking a little

234

:

bit, second guessing some decisions.

235

:

How have you seen Dave Roberts bullpen

management, particularly in game

236

:

four, game five of this world Series?

237

:

Melo: Yeah.

238

:

It's definitely frustrating.

239

:

But,

240

:

PSP: Definitely frustrating.

241

:

Melo: other part of it.

242

:

It is Dave

243

:

PSP: The other part of it's Dave

244

:

Melo: this

245

:

PSP: Robinson

246

:

Melo: Andrew Freeman, Brandon Gomes

did not address the clear need,

247

:

PSP: did not address,

248

:

Melo: at the trade deadline, which

was getting a big bullpen arm.

249

:

They did, but Brock Stewart

250

:

PSP: They did.

251

:

Melo: they had, and this is

unfortunate, they had $70 million

252

:

of dead money, 'cause they gave.

253

:

A four year, I think it was $67 million to

Tanner Scott, he's not even on the roster.

254

:

They gave a one year, I think seven

or $10 million deal to Kirby Yates.

255

:

He's not even on the roster.

256

:

So there's a lot of dead money on the

team because they just weren't reliable.

257

:

All off season, all season.

258

:

And in these last two games,

there's not really many options

259

:

that he feels trusted with.

260

:

It sucks.

261

:

Blake Snell had to throw 113

pitches and he didn't even

262

:

get out of the seventh inning.

263

:

And it,

264

:

PSP: And

265

:

Melo: to me yesterday

266

:

PSP: it didn't make sense to me

267

:

Melo: Roki Sasaki

268

:

PSP: as why

269

:

Melo: Arm out of the bullpen yesterday.

270

:

Like it was three one,

it was still reachable to

271

:

PSP: somewhat

272

:

Melo: the game.

273

:

PSP: were come back,

274

:

Melo: did not pitch in game four.

275

:

I just don't understand what Dave Roberts

276

:

PSP: I just don't understand.

277

:

Melo: with a day off today

between games five and six.

278

:

I don't understand what

you're waiting for.

279

:

PSP: I don't.

280

:

Melo: now, it didn't matter because this

Dodger team can't hit anyways right now.

281

:

But I thought it was a huge mistake not

having Susaki be the first person out of

282

:

the bullpen after, blake Snell was able to

get the second out of the seventh inning.

283

:

It just gets asaki in there to get the

one out and you figure it out from there.

284

:

But at that moment in time I didn't

understand, en Eduardo, Enrique come and

285

:

being the first guy outta the bullpen.

286

:

I know he had, two scoreless innings

in game three, which was great, but it

287

:

almost felt like that was an anomaly

288

:

PSP: It almost felt like that.

289

:

Melo: I just don't understand why Sasaki

was not used yesterday, especially in

290

:

that spot, when it was still somewhat

reachable to come back and win the game.

291

:

PSP: I'm sure he'll definitely be involved

in the next couple of games in Toronto

292

:

because there is literally no next week

we're in the final week of the season.

293

:

It is bittersweet.

294

:

I will say that it's an exciting

time with the World Series, but

295

:

after Sunday we only have football.

296

:

And if you're not a football fan

or if you're a fan of, the teams

297

:

are not very good in the NFL.

298

:

Feel bad for you, but baseball

is really a fun time and watching

299

:

Cho is a fun time as well.

300

:

I have to ask Melo, is he best served

as the lead off hit off of the Dodgers?

301

:

I've seen some arguments that he

could potentially hit clean up or

302

:

given the sense that teams have a

propensity to walk this guy, that he

303

:

could even come in the three hole.

304

:

Where do you think he's best served

outside of the lead off position?

305

:

Melo: I, I think he's best served

in the lead off position right now.

306

:

Just looking up and down this lineup

right now, there's not really a.

307

:

Any

308

:

PSP: Up right now.

309

:

There's not really any

310

:

Melo: At least

311

:

PSP: other options that are better.

312

:

Melo: he

313

:

PSP: At least

314

:

Melo: out a

315

:

PSP: Tony.

316

:

Melo: he

317

:

PSP: Yeah, he might strike out a lot.

318

:

Melo: out of the strike zone, but at least

just his presence in the batter's box.

319

:

To start an inning, in the

bottom of the first inning.

320

:

It sets some fear into the starting

pitcher, into the opposing team.

321

:

Like you gotta be careful, if you miss

322

:

PSP: gotta be

323

:

Melo: over the plate,

he's gonna hit it out.

324

:

And,

325

:

PSP: plate.

326

:

Melo: and JohE hopefully is

disciplined enough to take his walks.

327

:

But yeah, right now it's.

328

:

PSP: Yeah.

329

:

Right now it's

330

:

Showy has to be with the office.

331

:

Melo: other better option

332

:

PSP: There's

333

:

Melo: now.

334

:

Like I

335

:

PSP: other better office.

336

:

Melo: Was, if Mookie was hitting the

ball well and Shhe was struggling, maybe

337

:

this would be more of a conversation.

338

:

But Shhe is gonna stay in that lead

off spot and again, just 'cause there's

339

:

really no better option right now.

340

:

PSP: Me.

341

:

One thing he did say when you last joined

us before the three games in LA was that

342

:

the Dodgers have won six of their last

seven championships on the road for,

343

:

I don't know what's going on at ch, if

there's some juju or something, but they

344

:

haven't clinched World Series on home.

345

:

on their own grass.

346

:

It's often been on someone else's, so

that's gotta give you some hope, right?

347

:

The fact that this team in recent

times wins on the road and the fact

348

:

that they seem to be okay with that.

349

:

Melo: you know it again I

mentioned this on Sunday.

350

:

I picked Dodgers in five, mainly

because I was picky with my heart just

351

:

because I wanted to see this Dodger

team, win a championship on home field.

352

:

And, it's ironic and funny

353

:

we've had opposing teams win the

championship on our home field.

354

:

We had the Astros win a game

seven at Dodger State, even:

355

:

And then a year later we had the

Red Sox win a game five on our

356

:

field to win the World Series.

357

:

Of course, other teams have come in and

won the whole thing, but not our own.

358

:

But yeah it does give me confidence

359

:

PSP: yeah, it does.

360

:

Melo: They they were able to get

four big wins this post-season two

361

:

in Philly, and two in Milwaukee.

362

:

Now, I know this is a

totally different team.

363

:

In the Toronto Blue Jays.

364

:

But if the Dodgers can win game six and,

if Yoshi Novo Yamamoto goes out there

365

:

and pitches well again, and if this

offense can find something in game six.

366

:

I'll take my chances in a game seven.

367

:

PSP: My chance.

368

:

Melo: Jays, I think you have to kill

this team in game six tomorrow night.

369

:

'cause I think if there's a game seven,

obviously anything can happen at the

370

:

PSP: Obviously

371

:

Melo: the

372

:

PSP: anything.

373

:

Melo: still have it at home, but

to me, you're playing with fire.

374

:

If you allow this Dodger team to go in

there tomorrow night, and win game six

375

:

with everything you know, I'm sure Roger's

Center's gonna go be crazy tomorrow.

376

:

Their one win away from their

first championship in 32 years.

377

:

If you just allow the Dodgers to come in

there and spoil the party tomorrow night,

378

:

that's gonna be a nervous crowd Saturday

night for game seven, but we gotta get

379

:

there first, and I think the Dodgers

380

:

PSP: There first.

381

:

Melo: shot.

382

:

It just all depends on if this

offense is gonna hit or not.

383

:

PSP: Yeah I agree with that.

384

:

I do think there needs to

be a sense of urgency on the

385

:

part of Theron and Blue Jays.

386

:

When Game six rolls around, you almost

have to treat it like a game seven, and I.

387

:

Doesn't recognize that if you do give

this game up, you are giving the momentum

388

:

to the visiting team and a team that

has that history that we talked about.

389

:

But Game six in itself is not gonna be

a cake walker picnic because it's gonna

390

:

be the return of your snow Yamamoto.

391

:

And he felt very at home

at the skydome in game two.

392

:

He shut down the.

393

:

The Blue Jays, he had one

rough first inning, but after

394

:

that he was smooth sailing.

395

:

He had a complete game back

to back complete games, and.

396

:

Stroll.

397

:

The Dodgers will need a third complete

game in a row, which will be off the

398

:

charts, but to get to game seven, they

might just need that kind of performance.

399

:

How are you feeling about, you

should know if you have a MO coming

400

:

into this pressure situation.

401

:

Can he hold up under the pressure, the

noise, the potential chaos of game six?

402

:

Melo: I think so.

403

:

He he had to do it just, not even a

week ago when the Dodgers got the doors,

404

:

got their doors blown off in game one.

405

:

He's pitching some big environments.

406

:

Philly he pitched in Milwaukee last

series and he gotta win in Toronto.

407

:

I don't think he's gonna go out there

and throw a complete game again.

408

:

I think the Blue Jays will make

their adjustments, but I think

409

:

the Dodgers will make their

adjustments on Kevin Gosman as well.

410

:

Second time they're gonna see him.

411

:

He doesn't have a crazy arm slot

angle like Trey Savage does.

412

:

But, I think ya Yono Yamamoto can

handle the situation, handle the

413

:

pressure, and a dream scenario

tomorrow of course, is two things.

414

:

Number one, either he goes there

and throws another complete

415

:

game, preferably a shutout.

416

:

Or another perfect scenario is

you get eight innings out of him

417

:

and then you give the ball to

Sasaki in the ninth, hopefully.

418

:

With Elite.

419

:

Those are the two dream

scenarios if you're a Dodger fan.

420

:

But yeah, I do ya.

421

:

I expect Yamamoto to go out there and

pitch well, and at least give this

422

:

dodger offensive a chance tomorrow.

423

:

PSP: Yeah, I definitely see that.

424

:

And his stuff is, he is not just his

stuff, it's the fact that it's variable.

425

:

He has so many pitches he

can beat you with and we saw

426

:

that with a splitter slider.

427

:

He was just dealing.

428

:

So the Blue Jays will

definitely have to scheme up.

429

:

David Popkin, the hitting coach

will surely come up with a plan

430

:

in terms of how to deal with that.

431

:

Game six is not for the faint holiday.

432

:

It is on Halloween.

433

:

It's gonna be a huge

game up here in Toronto.

434

:

we'll see if George Springer

comes back from his injury that

435

:

he sustained in game three.

436

:

He didn't look in great shape.

437

:

We'll see if, where Shake and go.

438

:

They've definitely found ways

to replace their everyday guys

439

:

when they've had the injuries.

440

:

Can you see any changes

to the Dodgers lineup?

441

:

I know in game five we

saw Alex call, come in.

442

:

We saw some lineup changes

in terms of position.

443

:

Different people in the order,

but can you see any other

444

:

changes of game six coming up?

445

:

Melo: I think you're gonna see

the same nine players in the

446

:

lineup, like you did in game five.

447

:

I just think Dave Roberts is

gonna shuffle them around again.

448

:

I think.

449

:

I think Max Muncy iss gonna be

back up at in, at the five hole.

450

:

I think, Edmond had a rough game

last night, hitting a popup with two

451

:

runners on, like in the fifth inning, I

believe, and then hitting into a double

452

:

play that essentially ended the game

453

:

I think you will see the

same, Nine players in there.

454

:

If I had to say if

455

:

PSP: If I had to say.

456

:

Melo: if Miguel Rojas is in

there tomorrow, either at

457

:

second base or third base.

458

:

But I think Dave Roberts is going

to stay with the same of people.

459

:

Andy Paul has clearly has

not shown that he could be

460

:

trusted, at least at the plate.

461

:

Yeah.

462

:

So I think the same guys are

gonna be in there tomorrow.

463

:

I just think the lineup's

gonna be a little different.

464

:

PSP: That with anticipation.

465

:

Yeah.

466

:

That'll be really intriguing to see what

happens when the lineups come up because.

467

:

Yeah I can see a twist in this tail.

468

:

I can see a couple of , lead changes.

469

:

This doesn't seem like a pitcher's jewel.

470

:

I do think bats do wake up, but

that will be very intriguing.

471

:

Have you enjoyed this postseason, despite

the fact that the judges is a 2, 3 down?

472

:

Melo: Before this World Series,

the Dodgers came into the

473

:

World Series nine and one.

474

:

They pretty much didn't break

a sweat outside of losing

475

:

one game to the Phillies.

476

:

But overall as a whole, yeah, this

477

:

PSP: But overall

478

:

Melo: has been a massive success

for Major League Baseball.

479

:

You've had, . The defending champs and

probably the most hated team in baseball

480

:

PSP: I.

481

:

Melo: in the Dodgers versus this

Toronto Blue Jays team that, yeah, not

482

:

a whole lot of people have seen, but

you have an entire country now that

483

:

is involved in Canada and you had some

other big market teams in there too.

484

:

PSP: That's other

485

:

Melo: you had the Yankees.

486

:

PSP: thing that we,

487

:

Melo: Red Sox get back in

there, you had the Cubs

488

:

PSP: red Sox

489

:

Melo: for the first time in five years.

490

:

San

491

:

PSP: 90 Occupy

492

:

Melo: got in

493

:

PSP: Diego

494

:

Melo: and then

495

:

PSP: got in, we.

496

:

Melo: you had a good Mariners team

with a good story that I know they

497

:

lost in game seven of the League

championship series, but still, you had

498

:

some great storylines and you had some

499

:

PSP: Had some great story

500

:

Melo: Get into this postseason

and have a lot of success.

501

:

So overall, no matter who

502

:

PSP: overall.

503

:

Melo: Series, this is a massive

success for Major League Baseball.

504

:

It feels like a lot of people have really

been tuning in to these postseason of,

505

:

specifically these World Series games.

506

:

I am a Dodger fan, but

I am a baseball fan too.

507

:

This is the, this postseason

has been a huge success, in my

508

:

opinion for Major League Baseball.

509

:

PSP: Absolutely, and we'll see how the

story ends with game six and potentially

510

:

game seven over the next couple of

days, the next 48 hours even now.

511

:

After the World Series is one and

done, we have the matter of free

512

:

agency and it seems like already the

Dodgers as usual, the front runners

513

:

for some of the big names, Kyle Tucker

in particular, which would be amazing.

514

:

Faces might melt in other markets

if they can get Carl Tucker.

515

:

But do you think it's feasible that

Freeman and Gomez can go out and get a,

516

:

another big fish like Carl Tucker and Sea?

517

:

Melo: Absolutely.

518

:

Me personally, I am good on Kyle Tucker.

519

:

I know, he's still a

great left-handed hitter.

520

:

I know, but he had a down year this year.

521

:

Now, he was hurt for most of the

season for a good chunk of the season.

522

:

But, I think the Dodgers, if

they're not gonna get him,

523

:

PSP: They're.

524

:

Melo: gonna bring up the price for these

other teams, whoever's involved here.

525

:

But yeah, I'm very much

looking forward to free agency.

526

:

Outside of I think a couple

guys, Schwarber and Kyle Tucker.

527

:

I haven't really looked at

the free agency list yet.

528

:

I definitely once this World Series

over, I'm gonna immediately look at it.

529

:

'cause yeah, this is, this is gonna

be a very interesting off season.

530

:

PSP: Gonna be, I very interested on

531

:

Melo: some

532

:

PSP: audience

533

:

Melo: here.

534

:

Maybe

535

:

PSP: trying make

536

:

Melo: off of

537

:

PSP: of

538

:

Melo: Hernandez if they

539

:

PSP: getting off the Oscar every

540

:

Melo: a little bit younger and who

knows, maybe a Kyle Tucker isn't played.

541

:

PSP: knows.

542

:

Maybe

543

:

Melo: I would pass on ta Kyle Tucker.

544

:

I'm not

545

:

PSP: I would pass on

546

:

Melo: I'm just

547

:

PSP: Tucker.

548

:

I'm not

549

:

Melo: fan I'm

550

:

PSP: saying

551

:

Melo: With if the Dodgers

552

:

PSP: I'm okay.

553

:

Melo: in Kyle Tucker or

they don't get Kyle Tucker.

554

:

PSP: As you said, relief fetching

may be the order of the day.

555

:

It is noted that there are a number of

relievers, Juan, on the roster, as you

556

:

said, Tanya Scott, Kobe Yates, Alex Faia.

557

:

So perhaps there's not a position in knee.

558

:

But at the same time, this Dodger's team

does not stand pat on or off the field.

559

:

I note that owner, Mark Walter, is about

to finalize a purchase of the Lakers.

560

:

He is having a reasonable week.

561

:

He can't win 'em all, but that's

gotta be a win for him at the least.

562

:

Melo: absolutely.

563

:

And I think that just got

564

:

PSP: Yeah.

565

:

Melo: So as a big Laker fan, I'm very

excited that the guy, the ownership

566

:

group, the Gutenheim group specifically

Mark Walter that, saved this Dodger

567

:

franchise in 2012 is gonna try and

save my basketball team as well.

568

:

So I'm very excited for that.

569

:

PSP: Team, right?

570

:

Yeah.

571

:

The NBA is definitely better

when the Lakers are doing well.

572

:

So hopefully that can become a thing

down the line with the Don Church

573

:

and Reeves era in effect, now mellow.

574

:

Our era is coming to an end,

at least for this episode.

575

:

Where can our audience find

you again on social media?

576

:

Melo: personal Instagram,

Romeo 24 R-O-E-M-E-L-L O2 four.

577

:

And around the diamond under at underscore

around the diamond on Instagram.

578

:

And then you can listen to the ATD

Baseball podcast every Tuesday.

579

:

It comes out every Tuesday.

580

:

We

581

:

PSP: Two

582

:

Melo: on

583

:

PSP: weeks out every.

584

:

Melo: myself and Kyle.

585

:

So you can find us there and where,

wherever you get your podcasts

586

:

apple, Spotify, and we even have

YouTube where if you can see

587

:

our beautiful faces every week.

588

:

Yeah, underscore at underscore

around the diamond on Instagram.

589

:

That's where you can find us and

check out all our content and stuff.

590

:

PSP: Yes, very good content

from around the diamond.

591

:

A great team out there, and mellow is

definitely an integral part of that.

592

:

In the meantime, we have

game six on Halloween.

593

:

There'll be tricks, there'll be treats.

594

:

There'll probably be some candy

and there may even be a game seven,

595

:

but at the very least, it's been a

fun action packed baseball season.

596

:

Really enjoyed it.

597

:

Really enjoyed all our baseball

guests that have come on the show.

598

:

Look forward to doing it again when the

World Baseball Classic comes around in

599

:

March and then we have the 2026 season.

600

:

But until the next time, I've

been your host, Neal Bruce.

601

:

And this is Vin, another episode of PSP.
